About Lisa Stam
This blog is about employment, labour and human rights law in Canada. I am Lisa Stam, a lawyer in Toronto in a Bay Street full service firm specializing in this area. I work for a range of employers, from small to big, from public and private sector, and from industrial and to office administrators.
Each workplace has its own culture, nuances and a history of how things "should" be done. The best part of my job is learning about those different workplace characteristics, and working with clients to craft a creative and effective solution for each unique situation.
When problems escalate to a litigation matter, I am happy to argue (find me a lawyer that isn't) at various forums, including labour arbitration, the courts and the Ontario Humans Tribunal.
I started this blog in the fall of 2009, in part because I wanted to join the online conversation about workplace legal developments and to stay on top of changes in employment and human rights law. I also thought it was about time to do so, since my clients increasingly deal with social media and online issues in their workplace - what better way to learn about the online world but to jump in and participate.
